Action
for Haitian Community Development (AHCD) was founded in February 2021 by a
group of young Haitian immigrants in Greater Boston, united by a shared vision
of community empowerment. Born as a volunteer-driven response to the COVID-19
pandemic, AHCD stepped in during a time of crisis to support immigrant families
grappling with longstanding social and economic disparities. From the outset,
AHCD played a vital role on the front lines—partnering with state and local
agencies to ensure emergency services reached vulnerable Haitian communities.
What
began as a grassroots initiative quickly evolved into a dynamic,
community-based organization. Today, AHCD stands as a trusted advocate for
Haitian immigrants and other underserved populations across Massachusetts,
offering culturally responsive programs that foster social, civic, and economic
integration.
AHCD's
mission now extends beyond U.S. borders. In Haiti, the organization provides
humanitarian relief and long-term recovery support to children and families in
high-need areas—grounded in community-led solutions and dignity-driven care.
Whether in the United States or Haiti, AHCD
remains committed to uplifting lives through education, leadership development,
community organizing, and safe spaces for growth. Every initiative reflects our
belief in the power of inclusion, resilience, and collective action to build a
brighter future.
